Primitive Trapping Workshop
Class Limit: 10 Students
This class will introduce you to the most effective ways to construct Primitive traps and set them to catch game. Anyone can build a trap, building an effective trap, knowing where to set that trap, and bringing animals to that location are the keys to successful trapping. In this course, we will explore only the most effective methods for catching the main food sources available in the wild, Birds, Mammals, Amphibians, and Fish.

Required Equipment:
- Knife
- Saw
- Hatchet
- SAK/MT
- Leather Gloves
- Bank Line #36 and #6 (a 1 lb. roll of each)
- Paracord 50’
- 7″ Net Needle
- (2) Metal Key Rings 2” in diameter
- Notebook Pencil/Pen
- Clothes for Weather
- Food and Snacks
*****An Ohio 3 day or Resident Fishing License is REQUIRED for this class and will need to be purchased prior to arriving at the school. An instructor will ask to see the license when you arrive.
Port-a-Pots are located approximately 400 yards from the base camp near the parking area.
Water will be available from jugs located in Base Camp. We continually check the water supply to make sure it is readily available.
We do not allow anyone to remain at camp without an instructor present
If you suffer from a medical condition that requires medication, please bring your prescribed medicines with you. If you undergo surgery or a hospital stay within 30 days of the class, DO NOT attempt this course.
As the premier school for self-reliance, our training exceeds that of any other school in the nation; so please take it seriously and take the time to physically prepare.
Age Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age to attend the class.
Due to property insurance restrictions: There will be no camping on the school property prior to the start of the class or after the classes conclude.
Each class is instructed by highly trained and professional outdoor/wilderness instructors. Each instructor teaches the Pathfinder School system and is authorized by Dave Canterbury. Instructors, including Dave Canterbury, can vary from class to class.
